ASPHALT COMMUTER
You ride to work because
a) it feels damn good,
b) it's faster, cheaper and way more fun than a car (or the bus) and
c) because you care about this big blue dot called Home.
That, fine cycling friend, is why Kona build a collection of commuter bikes as multicultural as any metropolis, from full, over-the-top candy rides to utilitarian workhorses; the simplicity of internal gearing to suspension systems designed to take the edge off the downtown. Whether it's drop bars, flat bars or raised bars, using quick, efficient and comfortable designs that are elegant and fun to ride, at a wide range of price points in a huge range of sizes (Kona offers nine different models of commuter specific models to choose from), at Kona, bicycle transportation is all about opportunity, choice and tapping into the engine inside. Rise up Pedaltarian. Rise up.
Kona Dew.
The car is collecting dust. You're starting to log some serious commuter miles. Who knows, maybe the spare tire is turning into a spare doughnut. Because Kona knows comfort and efficiency are paramount concerns when you're riding everyday, they offer six different sizes in the Dew range so there's a bike for every possible body configuration. Kona's entry-level commuter, the Dew features a Shimano Altus, 8-speed drivetrain with a super easy 34-tooth chain ring so anyone can climb anything.
Kona Dew Plus.
If your city commute includes steep hills, bad drivers and inclement weather, the Dew Plus is the first bike in the Dew series to offer Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for optimal stopping power. New for 2011, Kona has added a newly designed aerodynamic Project 2 aluminum alloy fork that's lighter, stiffer and more aesthetically pleasing. Rain, snow or shine, uptown or downtown, this beautifully equipped and super light commuter gets there fast and safe.
Kona Dew DeLuxe.
There's an army of Dew Deluxe's traversing the pavement of today. Kona continues the tradition into 2011 with a new frame geometry that better centers the rider over the bike, adding to the Dew DL's agility and quickness-got to beat the cars at their own game. To ensure you can easily attach lights, kid carriers, panniers and fenders, Kona has outfitted the aluminum alloy frame and forks with all kinds of mount options. A 9-speed Shimano Alivio drivetrain, alloy fork, hydraulic brakes…the ultimate Street Ranger
Kona Dr. Good.
A completely new model for 2011, the Dr. Good is designed specifically to roll roads with confidence and style, with an added hint of customization. Positioned in Kona's asphalt series as a clean, classy, quick and nimble commuter, the Dr. Good uses a single chain ring up front with an internally geared 7-speed rear hub, featuring a rear roller brake and a mechanical disc up front. As a result, maintenance is virtually non-existent. Ease of use is absolute.
Kona Dr. Dew.
The classic. Lighter, stronger, more better, the ultimate commuter. This year the Doctor features a Shimano 9-speed drivetrain, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and a more sporty selection of components. Kona knows that to smooth out the city you've got to be smooth yourself. Discern away on the 2011 Dr. Dew
Kona Dew FS.
The ride gets real nice on the full suspension Dew. It's still smooth, light and efficient, but it has a small travel suspension seatpost and fork to dull the edge off of asphalt riding. A 9-speed Deore drivetrain, quick wheels and comfortable, balanced geometry, this is the perfect bike for cobblestone streets, pothole hell, or rough commuter paths. Smart, swift, and in case you need it, a dash of soft
Kona Dr. Fine.
The name says it all. This is the supreme downtown flyer. Full of class, good looks, and of course, speed. The bike features a single chain ring upfront, internally geared rear hub with 8 speeds, new earth friendly Freedom WTB rims, custom WTB Valcon saddle and FSA crank. Simple, sweet… certifiably Fine.
Kona Ph.D.
Kona's ingenious city speedster comes with a new frame for 2011. The incorporation of a BB30 bottom bracket and hydroformed Race Light 7005 aluminum butted tubing with smooth welds results in a frame that's stiffer, faster, noticeably lighter, and better looking than ever. Adorned with a carbon fork, road caliper brakes, 10-speed Shimano Ultegra/105 drivetrain, and an FSA flatbar, this is the Big Cookie ride. It's as close to a commuter/road hybrid as you can find. In a word, genius.
